MORE details have emerged from Friday night’s roadblock on the M41 going towards uMhlanga where 26 drunk drivers were charged and arrested. At the same operation between Durban North SAPS and Metro Police was a driver who allegedly had the highest blood alcohol level in the station’s history.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the driver was over the limit (the legal limit is a breath alcohol content of 0.24mg per 1,000ml, or a blood alcohol limit of 0.05g per 100ml). It’s believed he was driving a high-end luxury car.

“A second drunk driver was arrested with a firearm with no license. What is more his disc didn’t match the registration. He also had fake number plates,” Deokaran said.
