Two-year-old electrocuted in Kenville

The two-year-old accidentally picked up the illegal connection which was running through his home.

WARD 34 councillor Bobby Maharajh has expressed his concern after a two-year-old boy died on Wednesday after being electrocuted in Kenville. It’s believed the little boy was electrocuted when he touched an illegal connection running through his home in the Smithfield Road Informal Settlement. The incident occurred at about 2.30pm.

“His family is heartbroken. It’s believed the little boy picked up an illegal connection, which was running through his home when the tragedy occurred. He was found by his sister and died before paramedics could arrive. I’m trying to assist the family as they don’t have the funds to bury their child. There have been a number of incidents at various informal settlements in my ward and it’s extremely concerning, especially for little children who are exposed to this danger,” he said.

Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS said he was not aware of the incident.
