Police officer shot and killed in Phoenix

The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.

A 58-YEAR-OLD police officer has been shot and killed in Pheonix earlier this morning. Provincial police spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, confirmed the officer worked at the Point Police station.

Reaction Unit South Africa said the incident occurred at about 6am.

“The incident occurred while he was walking to Stonebridge Drive to meet his lift club. The officer was accosted by occupants of a red VW Polo who shot him before fleeing the scene. Due to the extent of his injuries he died at the scene. The motive for the murder has not been established at this stage,” the security unit said on their Facebook page.
