Domestic worker tied-up in attempted robbery

The suspects were using a VW Polo as their getaway vehicle confirmed police.

FOUR men, two of whom were armed, stormed a home on St Andrews Drive just after lunchtime on Wednesday. The suspects were using a VW Polo as their getaway vehicle confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The men gained access to the home and tied the domestic worker up. They asked several questions and were disturbed by the homeowners. The suspects fled the scene without taking anything. A case of attempted robbery was opened,” he said.

The incident comes five days after armed men barged into a Cambridge Drive home. The suspects pretended to be workers from the municipality’s electricity department and managed to get the domestic worker to let them in. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the men were even dressed in blue overalls.
