8 injured in N2 uMhlanga accident

24 people were injured in two separate accidents this morning.

EIGHT people were injured in a rear-end collision on the N2 this morning just before the uMhlanga off-ramp. The accident occurred at about 8am according to Chris Botha of Netcare 911.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a taxi rear-ended a bakkie leaving eight people injured. Eight commuters sustained minor injuries. Medics treated the patients at the scene before they were transported to hospital.

In a separate incident this morning, a taxi crashed into a sugar cane plantation leaving 16 people injured. According to Reaction Unit South Africa’s Facebook page, the incident occurred in Inanda.

“Upon arrival it was established that while travelling in the direction of Verulam the brakes on the Toyota HiAce taxi failed. The vehicle then veered off the road and continued downhill through the sugar cane before it crashed in a ditch in an open field.

“Approximately 16 passengers suffered mild to moderate injuries. They were treated on scene before being transported to Osindisweni Hospital by various ambulance services,” they added on their Facebook page.
