Housebreaking suspect shot after attempted stabbing in Avoca

It's believed the suspect is wanted for several break-ins in the area.

A HOUSEBREAKER was shot and wounded after he attempted to stab a Marshall Security officer in Avoca Road in the early hours of this morning. The incident occurred at about 3.30am confirmed the company’s Kyle van Reenen.

It’s believed the suspect is wanted for several break-ins in the area.

“While conducting a check of the property, one of the officers noted a glass sliding door had been forced open. The officer was confronted by a male suspect armed with a large knife. The suspect advanced at the officer who drew his firearm, firing a shot in an attempt to defend himself, striking the suspect in the right leg.

“Crisis Medical paramedics were called to the scene and the suspect was treated and stabilized on scene before being taken under police guard to a nearby hospital,” he said.
