WATCH: Huge spider web takes over field

Spiders knit 30-metre shimmering web in New Zealand field

SPIDERS created a massive 30 metre web in New Zealand in an attempt to flee a flooded part of New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty. Footage captured by a local resident shows the shimmering web across the entire field.

The video was shot by Tracey Maris who noticed the web blanket near a soccer field at the Gordon Spratt Reserve. She initially thought the silk nets were unoccupied but as the video pans out, you see thousands of tiny spiders.

The video was captured in April by Maris and has been viewed more than 60 000 times on YouTube.
