Man charged with culpable homicide following woman’s death

The accident occurred before the BP service station on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.

DURBAN North SAPS have confirmed they are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an accident on Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Saturday morning. Col Rene Dhlamuka from the station said a case of drunken driving was also opened against the driver of the vehicle.

It’s unclear what led to the accident but it’s believed a woman was hit by the vehicle in the incident which occurred at about 1am. The accident occurred before the BP service station on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.

Henry Landman of Crisis Medical confirmed they declared the woman dead on scene.

The fatal accident came hours before a man was arrested for an alleged hit-and-run. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the driver was followed by a member of the public who witnessed the accident. The driver was later arrested in Glenashley.
