Family appeal for help after dog goes missing during robbery

The Yorkshire Terrier ran out of the property after armed robbers stormed the premises.

A PRESTONDALE family has put out an emotional appeal for help after their Yorkshire Terrier, Spot went missing after an armed robbery. It is believed an armed gang stormed the Fern Road home just after lunchtime today before holding the family up. Speaking to Northglen News, the emotional pet owner, Lorna Sinclair said the family was besides themselves with worry.

Spot is believed to have run out of the property after the armed gang stormed the premises.

“He has never been out the yard, so he doesn’t even know what a car is. We are beside ourselves at the moment. We are asking the North Durban community to please keep an eye out for him or contact me on 083 388 9090,” she said.

According to Sun Cell Watch’s Craig Adendorff, an alert was sent out on the WhatsApp groups in the hopes of finding the missing Yorkie.

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security confirmed that the stolen property as well as the suspects’ vehicle had been recovered in KwaMashu.

“Five suspects wearing balaclavas derailed the driveway gate and drove their vehicle into the property. They held up the homeowners and domestic at gunpoint before fleeing with various electronic items. The family was extremely traumatised by the incident.  The vehicle, a VW Polo, was stolen in Mayville last month,” he said.
