VIDEO: Rinaldo Road Granny flat gutted by fire

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

TWO people have been treated for minor smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a home on Rinaldo Road just after 2pm today. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, a mother and her son, who were in the granny flat managed to escape unscathed.

Firefighters have been battling the blaze for more than 30 minutes and are yet to extinguish the flames.

“The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Traffic on Rinaldo Road has been severely affected due to the firefighters and rescue personnel on scene cordoning off the road. At this point the mother and son escaped the blaze and were treated for minor smoke inhalation. Their home has been gutted by the fire sadly,” he said.

It is believed the young boy is around 5 or 6 years old.
