Attempted murder case opened after Umhlanga Ridge stabbing

Police say the suspect involved in the stabbing escaped the scene in a red VW Polo.

DURBAN North police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in the parking lot of a popular fast food outlet on Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at about 10.30am confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station.

“The victim, a tow truck driver was seated in his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown suspect who pulled out a knife and began stabbing him. He was stabbed multiple times in the attack and managed to run towards Umhlanga Hospital where he received treatment.

“The suspect involved in the stabbing then jumped into a red VW Polo before fleeing the scene. The vehicle was not fitted with registration plates. We opened a case of attempted murder,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
