THE Aloe Park Lap Challenge race on Sunday, race two of the KZN Lap Challenge Series, dished up some tough, muddy condition with young Henry Liebenberg taking home the honours in a dominant display. Liebenberg trounced the rest of the field while Frances Janse van Rensberg took home the ladies win.

The race saw a bunch get ahead early before Liebenberg got his nose in front and posted a negative split on his second lap which stretched the field, giving him a significant lead that he could hold on to for the remainder of the showdown.

It’s been difficult start to the year for Liebenberg who has battled to get back to full fitness, but with an exciting year ahead of him, getting a win at Aloe Park was a good start ahead of a busy rest of the year.
“I picked up a heart virus after I had a nasal operation so it has been a difficult year for me,” Liebenberg said after his win. “It’s great to get on the bike and be competing again.
“It was a great race for me and went according to plan which I am really pleased about considering the time that I have been out of action for.”
The race for second was an exciting one with Jedson Toomes and Carl Calverley fighting it out all the way to the finish line.
