The young sportsman was thrilled to discover that his hard work and dedication had earned him the recognition, adding another special achievement to an already impressive year on the sporting field.

Sanchez said he was completely caught off guard when he was called to the office to receive the news.

“I was happy and excited, nervous and had butterflies in my tummy because I had no idea what I was being called to the office for.”

A talented goalkeeper, Sanchez was selected for the North Durban U12 Invitational Team, representing the side at the KZNIPSSA Ian McLeod Tournament at Kearsney College from July 11 to 12.

His parents, particularly his dad, have also played an important role in his development. Sanchez says his dad makes time to train with him after work, no matter what.

“I would like to say a special thanks to my dad. He comes from work, no matter what, and trains with me,” said Sanchez.

Now that he has been crowned a SPAR Superstar, Sanchez has plans for his prize voucher – snacks and junk food and, importantly, spoiling his mom and dad with a treat.

Sanchez thanked everyone who supported him and voted for him in the competition.
