Groove on at Rox Secret Sunrise fundraiser

The event will act as a fundraiser to help budding junior and nipper lifesavers to attend next year’s South African Lifesaving Championships in Port Elizabeth.

UMHLANGA Rocks Surf Lifesaving Club (Rox) will host a Secret Sunrise Event ‘ROX Share the Joy’ on Sunday, 21 October in aid of the local lifesavers. The event will act as a fundraiser to help budding junior and nipper lifesavers to attend next year’s South African Lifesaving Championships in Port Elizabeth in March 2019.

Secret Sunrise is a global movement which sees people gather outdoors in the early morning to express themselves (through dance) to a soundtrack played through headphones.

Club member, Sarah McLennan, said she hopes the community comes out to support this super fun event for a great cause.

“I’ve never done a Secret Sunrise before, but from watching the videos it looks like great fun. You are in your own space, you get to watch the beautiful sunrise over the ocean on uMhlanga Beach all the while jamming to some good songs. All our members have been encouraged to participate in the event and I would love to see more residents come out and support us by taking part. We’ve given the event a very fitting theme, Baywatch, have a look at our Facebook page for some cool outfit ideas,” she said.

Tickets can only be purchased online in advance, at Quicket.

Important information: The event starts at 6.30am on Sunday, 21 October outside the uMhlanga Rocks Surf Lifesaving Club house (near the whale bone pier) Tickets cost R140 for adults and R100 for children. To book, visit www.quicket.co.za.
