Check your car licence before the holiday: SAPO

Many motorists may not be aware that their car licence has expired or will expire while on holiday and could be fined for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

THE South African Post Office (SAPO) has urged motorists in KZN to check their car licences before going on holiday.  According to SAPO many motorists may not be aware that their car licence has expired or will expire while on holiday and could be fined for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

“There are 84 Post Office branches in KZN where vehicle owners can renew their vehicle licence. By law, vehicle licence renewal must be done in the province where the vehicle is registered so they cannot do this while on holiday in another province.

“Motorists who not have received a renewal notice can download the renewal form (ALV) from www.postoffice.co.za. Click on ‘Business’ and then ‘Motor vehicle licences’ or click here. During the past financial year, more than 3 million motor vehicle licences were renewed at Post Office branches – clear evidence of the success of this service,” the Post Office said in a statement.
