A three-day search for a man who went missing from Umgeni Park has ended after he was found alive and safe.

Slade Thomas was spotted by a member of the public on Monday morning who alerted search parties to his whereabouts.

Thomas had been missing since Saturday morning (September 5) and was last seen leaving his home on Hunters Way.

Private investigator Brad Nathanson confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

“Slade Thomas has been found, alive, stable and coherent and is with the neighbourhood watch support team. Medical assistance is en route to assess, along with family members. You may stop searching and posting. Thank you to you all. An amazing effort from so many,” his Facebook post read.

Family, community members, the Greenwood Park SAPS CPF Sub Forum 4 patrollers, private security and the North Durban Community Support Network all assisted in the search efforts.

Thomas’ family had offered a R50 000 reward for any information leading to finding him.

This led to some people attempting to exploit the situation by generating AI generated images of Thomas, claiming he had been found.
