Mvoti Neighbourhood Watch spreads Christmas cheer

The watch delivered lunches to various emergency personnel who serve the north Durban area.

CHAIRMAN of the Mvoti Neighbourhood Watch, Grant Cockburn spent his Christmas morning spreading festive cheer to members of the SAPS, fire department and other rescue personnel in the north Durban area.

Cockburn, along with his son, Trent, dropped off lunches for Metro Fire and Emergency services, Greenwood Park SAPS, Marshall security and Crisis Medical control room staff and Excellerate security (Red hill cemetery).

Cockburn said the gesture was to say thanks for everything emergency personnel do for the North Durban community.

“As an ex-police man and an ex-fireman who has worked Christmas days, a word of thanks from members of public goes a long way. And as Chairman of our Mvoti NHW it is a small thank you from our community to the emergency services and we appreciate what they do for us. This is our third year and the response from them was one of appreciation. I believe for being recognized for their sacrifices at this time of the year when we are with our families and they are working,” he said.
