Two arrested in connection with eMdloti thefts

The men were wanted in connection with several theft-out-of -motor-vehicle incidents in the eMdloti area of late.

TWO men were arrested by members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team recently in connection with several theft out of motor vehicle incidents in eMdloti.

According to the company’s spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the suspects had been using a white Volkswagen Polo to commit the crimes.

“The men were wanted in connection with several theft-out-of -motor-vehicle incidents in the eMdloti area of late.  A search of the vehicle revealed false registration plates attached to the vehicle as well as remote jamming devices,” he said.

The suspects were handed over to the Durban North SAPS.

Van Reenen added that the company had also recovered items stolen from a Virginia home during a housebreaking recently.

“While on a routine patrol in the Virginia area, our officer, noticed a white Toyota Quantum driving erratically. When the driver of the Toyota noticed our vehicle, he sped off towards the M4 Ruth First Highway and a high-speed chase ensued. The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop in Somtseu Road, near the Durban Station. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and managed to evade arrest. A flatscreen television and various other items were found in the vehicle and were later confirmed to have been taken in a housebreaking in the Virginia area,” he said.
