Get ready for Durban Ultra triathlon

This year will see the Durban Ultra take place on Sunday, 3 March down at Country Club Beach Durban on the promenade stretch.

THE Durban Ultra is no doubt, SA’s most esteemed and prestigious ultra distance triathlon event with a history dating back to the early eighties.

The format and distances may have evolved slightly over the years to what is the current 1.9km swim/90km cycle and 21km run distance, but the course, atmosphere and history partly remains the same.

Attracting both Ultra Distance Athletes (1.9km swim/90km cycle/21km run) as well as Sprint Distance athletes (600m swim/20km cycle/5km run), the city of Durban will be a buzz with some of the fittest athletes all descending on the host city to compete both for podium places as well as just for fun and the challenge.

Events will get underway at 7am from the Bike&Bean Precinct where the bike transition and swim start are located.

The organisers have once again taken pre-emptive steps this year to ensure that the swim does go ahead, regardless of the sea conditions which are generally at the mercy of the climatic elements.

Entries are open both for individuals and teams but are limited.
