Golfers unite for autism golf day

THIS year’s Els for Autism Golf Day saw a full field of enthusiastic golfers take to the course at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. The event is part of a national tournament which culminates with the Grand Finale at The Lost City Golf Course at Sun City in the North West on 30 and 31 October.

All proceeds raised through the golf day will be donated to the Els for Autism Foundation which was established in 2009 by golf legend Ernie and Liezl Els to focus on the issue of autism. The Els’ son Ben is profoundly impacted by the disorder and for the last ten years the world class pro golfer and his wife have devoted their efforts on raising awareness and funds for a catalytic philanthropic project – The Ernie Els Centre for Autism.

The Ernie Els Centre for Autism (EEC) South Africa recognizes that every parent and family member plays an important role in helping their child reach his or her fullest potential. Thus, its main purpose is offering families comprehensive guidance on how to use best practices in education and autism treatment to teach their child. The EEC South Africa raises funds throughout the year in order to be able to provide this support to families and caregivers free of charge. The monies raised through the 2019 Els for Autism Golf Day will be used to continue extending these services in South Africa.
