Durban North housebreaker arrested

The suspect was found in possession of the stolen item by security officers.

SWIFT team work between Blue Security and the Greenwood Park police led to the arrest of an alleged housebreaker in Durban North on Thursday.

Blue Security tactical team member Brendan Porter said the suspect allegedly entered a Monteith Place resident’s home and stole a flat screen television.

The incident occurred at around 5.10pm.

“The homeowner spotted the suspect and confronted him. The suspect ran towards the perimeter of the property and threw the television onto the ground as the homeowner attempted to apprehend him. However, he managed to break free and then scaled the wall with the television,” Porter said.

“The suspect ran down the road and hid the television in some shrubs near the roadside. One of our tactical team members responded to the scene and found the suspect hiding in the shrubs. After a quick search, our officer managed to find the television which the suspect had hidden about 50 metres away from the house,” Porter said.

Members of the Greenwood Park SAPS attended the scene of the crime and took the suspect into custody.
