One killed in M4 accident near Sibaya

A Toyota Yaris collided head on with a truck.

A 65-year-old man has been killed in a collision involving a vehicle and a truck on the M4 Ruth First Highway .

According to Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical, paramedics arrived on the scene to find the twisted remains of a Toyota Yaris which collided head on with a truck.

“The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old male suffered fatal injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do to assist him and he was declared deceased on arrival. Following the impact of the collision, the truck careened off the roadway, rolling down an embankment, before coming to a rest on its side.

“The driver, approximately 30 years of age, sustained minor injuries only. The cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation,” he said.

Van Reenen also confirmed one of the four people injured in the M4 accident which occurred on Monday succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
