Armed men rob La Lucia couple

The incident occurred just after midnight on Wednesday on Oakleigh Avenue.

DURBAN North SAPS are looking for two men involved in the armed robbery of a La Lucia home on New Year’s Day.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred just after midnight on Wednesday on Oakleigh Avenue.

“The couple were in their lounge when they were accosted by two armed men. The suspects had a firearm and a knife and ordered the couple to keep quiet. They then grabbed two cellphones that were on the table and jumped over the couple’s balcony railing and fled on foot. Thankfully the couple were unharmed in the incident,” Deokaran said

He added attempts to trace the cellphones were unsuccessful.

This is the first robbery in the area since December where a domestic worker was assaulted by armed suspects also in the La Lucia area.
