Residents go five days without water in eMdloti

Residents are resorting to using bottled water to get by.

A WATER outage in eMdloti has left residents of Bellamont Road in the lurch as assistance from the eThekwini Municipality comes in drips and drabs. By Monday, 3 February, residents had been without water for five days.

Mandy Courier, a Bellamont Road resident said the water outage is impacting her daily life.

“I understand that its a process of elimination when fixing a water fault, but its very frustrating because there are so many departments and each relies on the other which slows down the process,” she said.

Courier first noticed a problem when she saw water streaming down Bellamont Road on 29 December, although the latest issue has been ongoing since Thursday, 30 January.

“Initially we were told there was a valve stolen off a pipe leading into the reservoir which created an airlock on the pipe. Then we were told an actuator valve fault was effecting water pressure,” she said.

The eThekwini Municipality had not send their comment at the time this article was published.
