Four seriously injured in Chris Hani Road accident

A FAMILY of four were seriously injured following a horror head on collision on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) on Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred near Moreland Drive just after 3pm said Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical.

“The family of four including two young girls were left with life threatening injuries. A seven year old girl suffered a fractured pelvis whilst her nine-year-old sister suffered a suspected fractured skull as well as multiple internal injuries.

“The father and driver of the vehicle sustained critical head injuries, while his wife was left moderately injured. Paramedics worked fervently for over an hour to stabilise the family before they were taken to Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital for further immediate care,” he said.

According to van Reenen the occupants of the second vehicle were lucky to escape with moderate injuries only.

“At this stage the cause of the collision is unknown,” he said.
