Man robbed at gunpoint in Briardene

A MAN was allegedly robbed at gunpoint before he entered a bank in Briardene yesterday morning.
According to Sanveer Sooklall of Swift Private Security, the incident took place at about 09:20 when the customer went to make a cash deposit.
“According to a witness, the customer was entering the bank to make a deposit when four armed suspects held him up at gunpoint and demanded cash,” said Sooklall.
The suspects were reported to have fled the scene in a White BMW 3 series.
“A vehicle check was conducted with SAPS and the vehicle has false plates that belong to another vehicle,” he said.
Sooklall added that nobody was harmed during the incident and that a case was registered at SAPS.
Local SAPS have not yet commented on the incident.
