Jacobus Stevenson says residents deserve a councillor who listens to their concerns, follows up on municipal issues and delivers practical solutions.

With the 2026 Local Government Elections just around the corner, councillors will be elected for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities across the country’s nine provinces.

Background: I am entering the political space because I want residents to have a direct say in council on issues that affect their daily lives. Communities deserve leadership that listens and delivers. I believe politics should be about people, not power, listening to residents, addressing their concerns and holding those in authority accountable.

South African Defence Force, IT and maintenance sectors, nine years in the US and two years in Ireland have given me exposure to different approaches and best practices. Supporting local projects and upliftment. Finding practical solutions for complex challenges.
