PHOTOS: Smooth sailing for Grade 1s in Durban North

Learners in the north Durban area enjoyed their first day of school on Wednesday.

THERE were no tears on the first day back at school on Wednesday as many schools enjoyed smooth sailing.

For many of the Grade 1s at North Crest Primary School and La Lucia Junior Primary School (LLJP), the day was all about making new friends and having fun.

Jen Harman, the principal of La Lucia Junior Primary School, praised her staff and parents of the learners for making the day a stress-free one.

“Things went really smoothly this morning. I think, in large, this was due to the orientation day we had on Tuesday where the children met their teachers and gained a sense of familiarity. That connection really helped and there were no tears this morning and their was much excitement,” he said.

The principal of North Crest Primary School, Thami Mkhize, said there were no hiccups on day one.

“All of our learners and staff were happy to be back and the first day of school was a breeze. We are looking forward to 2022 and sharing special moments with our youngsters through the year,” he said.
