Driver shot in attempted hijacking on N2 near uMdloti

The driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

THE driver of a heavy motor vehicle is in stable condition after he was shot and wounded in an attempted hijacking on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on the N2 southbound near the uMdloti off-ramp just after 16:00.

Medi Response spokesperson, Paul Herbst said the driver and only occupant of the vehicle was transported to hospital in a serious condition.

“Paramedics from Medi Response and Lenmed Ethekwini advanced life support paramedics arrived on scene and attended to the patient, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The individual was in a serious condition at the time of being transported to hospital, however, he is now in a stable condition,” Herbst said.

No arrests have yet been made.
