Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene and found the woman, who was the driver of the vehicle, slumped over the steering wheel of her car with a gunshot wound to the chest.

“There was a bullet hole in the back window. With the assistance and permission of the South African Police Services, the team used specialist rescue tools to gain access to the vehicle,” said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.

A short while before this incident, paramedics also assessed a security officer who had responded to an armed robbery in the same vicinity where the woman was shot.

The officer’s vehicle was shot at, allegedly by the robbers, but he was unharmed.

The South African Police Services will investigate further.
