Death toll in uMhlanga crash rises to two

Another person has died following the incident which occurred this afternoon. 

THE multi-vehicle collision on the M4 today, just before the uMhlanga off-ramp, has now claimed two lives following earlier reports of one fatality and several injuries.

Emergency services responded to the scene where a truck, a fully loaded minibus taxi and a bakkie were involved in the crash.

Initially, ALS Paramedics confirmed one woman, believed to be a nurse, died at the scene, and two others were critically injured.

Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson has since confirmed that one of the critically injured has succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to two.

“Fourteen other patients sustained minor injuries and were assessed and treated at the scene by multiple ambulance services. One person remains critical,” he said.
