uMhlanga, uMdloti beaches remain closed due to water quality concerns
All water activities at several beaches along the KwaZulu-Natal north coast are banned for health reasons.

THE eThekwini Municipality has reminded residents that several beaches, including uMhlanga and uMdloti Beach, remain closed due to poor water quality.
More than a week ago, the City re-opened 13 beaches, however, they have had to reverse that decision for several beaches a mere seven days later.
“The City would like to advise the public that following the latest round of testing, it has taken a decision to close some beaches with immediate effect due to poor water quality,” said City spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela.

“The following beaches are closed: Brighton, Ansteys, Point, uShaka, Addington, South, Wedge, North, Bay of Plenty, Battery, Country Club, eThekwini, Laguna, Baggies and Reunion beaches. All water activities at these beaches are banned for health reasons.”
He added that uMhlanga main, uMdloti, Westbrooke and Bronze beaches in the northern region remain closed.
“Beaches that remain open include Toti, Pipeline, Warner, Winklespruit, and Umgababa beaches. The municipality continues to test water quality at beaches on a regular basis and takes decisions based on those results,” he said.
