Copper thief arrested in Umgeni Park
The suspect may be linked to the numerous thefts of copper pipes and water meters in the Umgeni Park area in the past month.
A SUSPECT believed to be linked to the numerous cases of copper theft in the Umgeni Park area was arrested after breaking into a home in Wedgwood Crescent.
The suspect was arrested when Marshall Security responded to a call from a client that an intruder had been spotted at his property by their domestic worker.
“When our Armed Response Officers arrived at the property, they noticed a suspect jump out over the wall, carrying copper pipes and a copper tap. He was immediately arrested on the corners of Wedgwood Crescent and Anthony Road,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Upon the arrest, it was established that the stolen copper pipes and copper tap had been stolen from the property.
Powell says that the suspect could possibly be linked to the multiple thefts of copper pipes and thefts of water meters in the Umgeni Park area in the past month.
The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS, who transported him, along with the stolen items, to the police station for further investigation.
The homeowner intends to open a case against the suspect.
