Suspect arrested and stolen vehicle recovered in Durban North

The suspect was charged for being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

A COLLABORATIVE effort between Marshall Security and Durban North SAPS resulted in the arrest of a suspect allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle in Durban North on Thursday.

The vehicle, a white Mahindra bakkie, had been reported stolen in Durban Central.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said members of the company’s Special Operations Team (SOT) spotted the vehicle on Umhlanga Rocks Drive at about 14:30.

“We informed Durban North SAPS who arrived to assist in pulling the vehicle over where one suspect was immediately apprehended. The stolen vehicle, together with the suspect, were transported to the station,” he explained.

Powell confirmed the suspect was charged with being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

In a separate incident on the same day, the SOT assisted C Track and Bidtrack ground teams to help recover a hijacked Toyota Hilux taken in KwasMashu.

“Our team members immediately responded, and after an extensive track, the vehicle was eventually found abandoned on a dirt road in A-Section Kwamashu where it was recovered by members of our Special Ops Team, C Track ground team, Bidvest ground team and KwaMashu SAPS,” he said.
