One shot and injured following robbery of Durban North store
Police and Marshall Security are looking for the suspects who fled the robbery in a getaway vehicle.
ONE person has been shot and injured following a robbery of a cellphone store at a popular shopping centre on Adelaide Tambo Drive (Kensington Drive) on Wednesday morning (April 10).
“The incident occurred just after 10:30,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
The victim of the shooting, believed to be an employee of the store, sustained a single gunshot wound to his leg and is in a stable condition.
“Two suspects, armed with a firearm, entered the store and held up the employees while two more suspects were waiting in a getaway vehicle. The suspects made off with undisclosed items, and as they fled the store, an employee allegedly ran after them and threw a brick at the getaway vehicle.

“The suspects then fired at the man, hitting him in the leg. The shooting occurred on Adelaide Tambo Drive, and both Marshall Security and Durban North SAPS are looking for the suspects. The area outside the shopping centre has been cordoned off,” he said.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the victim is believed to be in his 40s.
“Paramedics attended to the patient who had sustained a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was stabilised on the scene by ALS Paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.
Durban North SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Nonhlanhla Shozi confirmed the incident and added that a case of armed robbery has been opened.
