Shoplifter arrested after Durban North convenience store theft

The suspect had been previously arrested for a similar offence last year.

A SUSPECT was arrested on Monday (May 6) after a shoplifting incident at a local convenience store on Blackburn Road.

The suspect had allegedly stolen several items from the store and was arrested on Mackeurtan Avenue.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell revealed that the suspect had been previously arrested for a similar offence.

“Our officers and members of the Special Operations Team were dispatched to the scene and apprehended the suspect. The suspect had stolen items from the store and left without paying. The shoplifter was handed in for further investigation and legal proceedings.

“The suspect has been apprehended by our team before and recently been released from prison after serving a six-month sentence for a similar incident,” he said.

In a separate case on Sunday, a suspect was detained for trespassing, and it was discovered he had been previously arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen items.
