ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the vehicle carrying vegetables had somehow lost control on the N2 Southbound before colliding with a pedestrian seated on the barrier before dropping to North Coast Road where it came to rest on its side.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage and that one pedestrian, believed to be in his forties, had sustained fatal injuries,” he said.
“The driver and only occupant of the vehicle had sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital,” he added.
At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
