Armed gang rob Durban North home

The homeowner’s daughter and the family’s domestic worker were locked in a room during the robbery.

POLICE are searching for an armed gang involved in a home invasion on Berkeley Crescent in Durban North on Monday afternoon.

The suspects held up the domestic worker and the homeowner’s daughter, who were at home at the time of the incident, and made off with several items.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell, the incident occurred at about 13:30.

“We were alerted to a house robbery which occurred on Berkeley Crescent. Reports from the scene indicate that an unknown number of armed suspects entered the property by forcing open the driveway gate. The suspects then proceeded to hold up the domestic worker and the homeowner’s daughter, then locked them inside a room.

“Thereafter, the suspects ransacked the house by taking numerous household items, including jewellery and TVs. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. The victims were fortunately not injured and declined victim support counselling,” he said.

Powell added that Greenwood Park SAPS were also alerted to the incident.
