Two killed in Chris Hani Road accident

One of the occupants of the vehicle was ejected during the horror accident.

TWO people were killed in yet another horror accident on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) on Sunday afternoon (May 26).

The single-vehicle incident, which saw the vehicle roll several times before coming to a rest in a service station, occurred just after 13:00.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said there were just two occupants of the vehicle.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage as they discovered that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and rolled numerous times, coming to rest on its wheels in a petrol garage. One of the occupants was ejected during the collision, and he sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene.

“The driver was found entrapped in the vehicle, and unfortunately, he, too, sustained fatal injuries, and there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he, too, was declared deceased on the scene. The Durban Fire Department was also in attendance to attend to the entrapment,” he said.

He added that the events leading up to the crash were unknown, and the Greenwood Park SAPS were in attendance.

The accident comes five days after another horror accident on Chris Hani Road, closer to the N2 bridge, which saw a pedestrian killed.
