Resident robbed at knifepoint in Effingham

The suspects made off with a Bluetooth speaker and cash in the incident on Ramchand Road.

A RESIDENT was robbed by two suspects armed with a knife as he returned home from a local shop.

The incident occurred at about 19:30 on Sunday evening (September 29), on Ramchand Road.

Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall confirmed that his officers responded to the incident.

“We received an alert about an armed robbery on Ramchand Road. The resident was approached by two suspects who held him at knifepoint, demanding his Bluetooth speaker and cash. After the robbery, the suspects fled into the nearby informal settlements. Our officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects,” he said.

Just a day earlier, two suspects were arrested for armed robbery.

In that incident, the suspects also held up a resident at knifepoint on Effingham Road and stole his belongings. The suspects were arrested on Firwood Road, and the stolen items were recovered.
