Dolphins defeated in rain-affected clash

The Dolphins ended their T20 campaign with a loss at home to Boland.

THE Hollywoodbets Dolphins lost their fifth game of their CSA T20 Challenge campaign after a defeat to the Goldrush Boland at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Saturday.

The home team lost by four runs via the DLS Method.

Boland were asked to bat first after the Dolphins won the toss and were anchored by solid contributions from Shaun Von Berg (50), Lehan Botha (31) and Keith Dudgeon (36*) to help them reach a total of 167/4 in their 20 overs.

The Dolphins woes with the ball were also compounded when Grant Roelofsen was stretchered off the field due to an unfortunate injury.

The Dolphins got off to a flying start with the second over going for 19, however, as they got to the fifth over, persistent rain halted proceedings.

The teams did return to the field however and the Dolphins target was revised to 88 from 10 overs. They needed 38 runs off 32 balls on their return to the field.

It was a tricky restart for the Dolphins who lost both openers in the same over.

Ultimately the home team could only make 83/5 in their 10 overs.

The Dolphins now shift their focus to red ball cricket when they begin their CSA 4-Day Series against WSB Western Province starting on October 30.
