What learners look forward to after exams

Some local high school learners share what they will be doing to relieve the exam stress and rejuvenate their energy.

EXAMS can be stressful for many learners, so when they are finished with their exams, it is important to take a break to relax.

There are many enjoyable and productive activities to unwind and prepare for the next phase of your life, such as engaging in your hobbies or starting a new one.

Activities include reading novels, staying active, cooking, relaxing, blogging and catching up on sleep.

Durban Caxton Local Media spoke to some learners who shared about the things they will do now that exams are over or when they are finished their exams:

Luke Thomas – I’m looking forward to the holidays so I can finally sleep in!! I am looking forward to making awesome memories with my friends, either out and about or just at home, and of course, lots and lots of gaming!

Evan Raaths – I cannot believe I’m done with high school! Then I want to focus on getting my driver’s licence, doing more shifts at work, chilling by the pool and spending time in the gym. But I have to say, I’m looking forward to 2025 when I start my National Fitness and Personal Trainer course and hopefully break into the SA Acting industry.

Tyler Lee Hawkins
– I am looking forward to being able to relax and have fun with my friends after the exams.

Noah Raaths – I can’t wait for exams to be over and the holidays to start! I’m looking forward to completing my Pro Makeup Artistry Certificate mid-December, then just chilling and all things Christmas.

Gabriella Brown – I am looking forward to sleepovers with friends and going to the beach when exams are done and holidays start.

Travis Rae – Once exams are over, I’m looking forward to a well-deserved break. I can finally unwind and catch up on everything I had to put aside – like reconnecting with friends or just enjoying some guilt-free downtime. I’m excited to spend some more time with my family and my beautiful girlfriend, and happy to have opportunities to do fun things with them and make some more memories. There’s lots to look forward to during this break, like Christmas and the start of 2025. I’m also happy to take a break from school and the pressure that comes with it and savour the freedom of a lighter schedule. It’ll be a perfect time to recharge, refocus and fully enjoy doing things that make me feel like myself again.

Jemma Fitt – I want to unwind and enjoy some freedom! I can’t wait to hang out with my friends, maybe go to the beach or a movie, I can’t wait to just be back in good company. It feels like we’ve been studying forever, and now, it’s time to celebrate all our hard work and all the late nights of stress. I’m dreaming of lazy days, filled with fun activities, like going shopping, trying new cafes and soaking in the sun. It’s going to be the best December ever!

Tay Jones – I am looking forward to de-stressing and downtime with no schedules after exams.

Gia Cowley – Honestly, after exams are finally over, I’m looking forward to chilling and catching up on everything I’ve missed. First things – definitely hanging out with my friends. We’ve all been so stressed with studying, so I’m really looking forward to going to the mall or grabbing some food together. I’ll most probably spend a few days just doing nothing and spend my time binge-watching movies and shows I’ve missed without having to worry about school. Really, I’m just looking forward to having some time to recharge and do whatever I feel like without the stress of exams and homework for once!
