Durban North organisation paves the path with careers day for Amaoti learners
They also learnt about goal-setting for the Grade 11 exams and exploring tertiary options.
OVER 500 learners from Amaoti 3 Secondary High gathered for the 2024 Career Day recently.
Educational psychologist Bryce Dekker of Direction offered advice and guidance to learners from grades 9 and 11 on how to determine their destiny through a strengths-based career exploration process.

“I encourage them to see which subjects come easily to them, which subjects they enjoy, which tertiary learning journey will appeal to them. They need to play to their strengths, search for excellence. The rest will take care of itself,” he said.
The aim of the Grade Nine workshop was for the learners to discover their personality types, to match these to their academic results and to be introduced to a wide range of career options available and so make their Grade 10 subject choices.
Konecta, consultants in business process outsourcing, sponsored the Career Day, and Pauline Arthur attended the event with some of her office staff.
“What a pleasure it has been for us to support the learners at Amaoti 3 Secondary High through The Domino Foundation. Being among these happy, enthusiastic young folk today has been delightful and they have certainly energised us. We are delighted to see that our finding has gone exactly where we wanted it to … towards impacting the lives of young South Africans with self-knowledge and with tools to help them enter the job market,” she said.
