VIDEO: Eskort store opens in Cornubia

Customers didn't mind the long queues and were pleased to see such a wide range of products in the store.

THE countdown and wait were finally over for the grand opening of Eskort Cornubia at Food Lover’s Village on Thursday morning.

Shoppers queued from as early as 07:30, waiting to get their hands on some delicious products, amazing specials and tasters, too.

Speaking to Northglen News, group retail manager for Eskort, Ihan Carstens, said Cornubia was the location of choice as the area has a great, settled community.

“We believe it is an ideal market for an Eskort retail store. Customers can expect continued great service, prices and promotions. We will not inflate prices for the festive period and will ensure we remain well-stocked at all times,” he said.

The project started in early 2024 when Food Lover’s Market approached Eskort to join them at Food Lover’s Village.

“After a few months of negotiations, a deal was made. It took six weeks to build and merchandise the store to its current state,” said Carstens.

The opening of the store created employment for 20 local staff with plans to expand this complement in the future. Eskort will also assess the area over the next few months to identify local corporate social-investment initiatives.

Eskort Cornubia boasts several service departments such as a deli, braai and retail merchandising.
