Umhlanga Ski Boat Club brings festive cheer to elderly
Residents from The Association for the Aged (TAFTA) John Conradie House were treated to a Christmas lunch celebration.
IF there’s one day of the year that residents from The Association for the Aged (TAFTA) John Conradie House look forward to it’s the Christmas party hosted by the Umhlanga Ski Boat Club.
There was plenty of music, fun and festivities including a line dance performance and an appearance from Santa.
TAFTA resident Charmaine Bailey said the party helps her feel the Christmas spirit.
“This is an outing I look forward to. I love the music, the food and of course the people who help put this together are amazing. They are so friendly and welcoming. You can feel this comes from their heart and it definitely gets me in the mood for Christmas,” Bailey said.
Organiser and member of the club, Rene Pheasant, explained they had hosted residents at their clubhouse for the last decade.
“This is the 13th year we’ve hosted the residents and it is always a wonderful occasion. For many of the residents this is their one outing in the year and they really look forward. The responses from them have been heartwarming, and really, we want the residents to know we care. It’s just inspiring to see how grateful our members are and the volunteers who’ve made the day a resounding success. It is special to share that connection,” Pheasant said.
