Local craft ‘pops up’ in uMhlanga

There are various local crafters and vendors at the pop-up store in uMhlanga.

THE Festive Pop-Up Store at The Crescent at Umhlanga Ridge is in full swing, showcasing the trade and merchandise of locally produced fashion, décor and Christmas novelties.

Designers include Bright Shadow, Siba Designs, Zip & Zen, and Thembeka Yada. The store also features fashion from Vittoria & Co., Otter Cat Clothing, Gifts by Locals and the Desi Collection.

The Festive Pop-Up Store is curated by Roberta Alessandri, who encourages all to support the local vendors who have their locally crafted products on offer, from fashion and accessories to toys, homeware and more.

One of the local vendors is Kerri Wittstock, a mom from uMhlanga with a flair for creating personalised gifts. She launched the business in 2020 after her mom, also a creative, encouraged her to turn her ideas into a business.

“We always made our own Christmas crackers during the festive season and people have always asked me to make these for them as well. So from there, I started making personalised dishcloths, toilet paper with humorous quotes on them, Christmas crackers for pets, candles, wine bags… the list goes on,” she said.

The store is located next to Pick n Pay Clothing and runs until December 31.

Trading hours are 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, 9:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays and 9:00 to 15:00 on Sundays.
