Suspect arrested for attempted copper cable theft in Prestondale
Police and security companies have encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement in order to fight crime effectively.
A SUSPECT has been arrested for attempting to steal copper pipes from a house on Wager Avenue in Prestondale.
The resident heard strange noises coming from his garage and contacted law enforcement.
Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell confirmed the suspect was linked to a second attempted theft on Albizia Road nearby.

“Our officers discovered that a garage window in the first property had been forced open and identified a suspect hiding inside. Additional backup units arrived on the scene, and the suspect was successfully apprehended in a co-ordinated effort.
“Shortly afterward, a second report was received concerning an attempted copper pipe theft at a property on Albizia Road. The suspect had been interrupted during the theft, leaving behind tools used to cut the copper pipes and fleeing the scene. The suspect apprehended was positively identified and handed over to Durban North SAPS,” he said.
The suspect was taken into custody for further processing and investigation.
Powell encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
