Bursaries available for matric class of 2024

These bursaries cater to diverse disciplines such as engineering, education, finance, computers, and more.

IF you are looking for bursaries for the 2025 academic year, numerous opportunities are open in various fields across the country.

These bursaries cater to diverse disciplines such as engineering, education, finance, computer science, and more. The bursaries are offered by Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme, eThekwini Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal Department of Co-operative Governance (Cogta) and Sasol. The Funza Lushaka Bursary is aimed at students pursuing a teaching qualification; it covers tuition, accommodation, and living expenses. Recipients must commit to teaching in public schools after graduation and the applications close on January 26, 2025.

KZN Cogta Bursary Scheme: It is for 10 learners that have finished matric and it covers tuition, residence, textbooks and all costs associated with study. Applications closes on Friday, January 17, 2025.

EThekwini Municipality Bursary Scheme: It is for matriculants only. The benefits of the bursary include accommodation fees, tuition fees, examination fees, a book allowance and a once-off computer allowance in the second year of study. Applications close on January 17, 2025.

Sasol Bursary Scheme: It provides financial support for matriculants who are interested in pursuing courses including engineering, science, and commerce. The bursary covers tuition, accommodation and a monthly stipend. Applications close on September 18, 2025.

Sasol Bursary Scheme: For details on how to apply, visit the following website: https://www.sasolbursaries.com/welcome/under-graduate/#how-do-i-apply.

Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme: 1. Go to the e-Gov portal at www.eservices.gov.za, register by providing personal information, log into the system using the user name and password created when registering, on the e-Services Menu select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme, enter the OTP received on the preferred channel, accept the Terms and Conditions, on the dashboard menu click on the application button, follow the steps to complete the required field with your information and accept the declaration to confirm the information captured.

KZN Cogta Bursary Scheme: Students must email a statement of symbols and letter of acceptance from any accredited SA university to Judith.mchunu@kzncogta.gov.za.

EThekwini Municipality Bursary Scheme: Log onto www.durban.gov.za, click on e-Careers step, create a user profile by clicking on register step; once your profile has been created on the system you will receive an email confirming that you have successfully registered. This email will contain your username and password which can be used to access the e-Careers step. Ensure all fields are populated. Once you have applied, an email acknowledging your application will be sent to your inbox so ensure you have a valid email address.
