Jazz it up at Bat Centre

The year is set to kickstart with a bang at the BAT Centre as the iconic Sunday Jazz Sundowners concerts take centre stage yet again. The Sundowners concerts will resume with Sheila Da Bluenote, a blues and jazz songstress, on Sunday, January, 26 which is free to the public. Sheila, having studied jazz voice at the BAT Centre’s AIR Programme many years ago, is expected to share her newly released music with revellers.

Her performance is particularly one for the books because it will be her first time taking to the stage after having lost her sight. Sheila will share with her fans the journey she has undergone both physically and emotionally through her ordeal.

Speaking to her, she expresses her un-easiness as she can no longer rely on sight to gauge her audience’s satisfaction. She says it will not be easy but she hopes to connect with audiences especially because music is spiritual. It is befitting that she performs at the BAT Centre where her professional career started and therefore can be regarded as her home.

In October 2022 she released an EP with two tracks entitled, Infinite Thoughts and it has songs like ‘Tell me why’ and ‘Indawo Yokukhosela’.

Don’t miss the show at the newly renovated BAT by the Harbour Restaurant at the BAT Centre. The show starts at 15:00 until late. The BAT Centre is situated at 45 Maritime Place.  For more information and enquiries contact 031 332 0451 or email programs@batcentre.co.za
