Copper pipe thief arrested in Durban North

The suspect was found with a knife in his possession.

A MAN was arrested on Wednesday morning after he was allegedly linked to copper pipe theft in the Durban North area.

The suspect was apprehended on Riverside Road.

This is the second arrest in recent weeks of an alleged copper thief following an arrest in Avoca last week.

“The theft, which occurred at 18:55 on Sunday evening, had been captured on CCTV footage, providing a crucial lead for officers and a formal case was opened with the SAPS,” explained Marshall Security official Tyron Powell.

“While patrolling Riverside Road our officers recognised the suspect from surveillance footage and immediately called for backup. The suspect was located hiding near the bushes on Riverside Road and was found with a knife in his possession.”

The suspect was handed over to Durban North SAPS.
